If you’ve recently bought a domain from Unstoppable Domains — especially a .com, .xyz, or another Web2 extension — here’s something important to know:
You didn’t just buy a domain.
You now own a tokenized Web2 domain — a standard DNS domain that’s stored on the blockchain. This gives you more control and more options — but only if you know how to access it.
What Does “Tokenized” Mean?
Unlike traditional registrars, Unstoppable assigns your domain to a blockchain wallet. Think of this wallet as the key to managing your domain onchain.
When you purchase a DNS domain with Unstoppable, say a .com or .net, Unstoppable creates a custodial wallet for you behind the scenes. That’s where your newly purchased domain sits by default.
This setup works fine inside Unstoppable — but here’s the catch:
Domains in the custodial wallet can’t be listed on onchain marketplaces like NameMaxi.
To list your domains, receive offers, or manage them outside of Unstoppable, you’ll need to move them to a wallet you control.
What’s a Wallet?
A wallet is your identity and access point on the blockchain. It’s where tokenized assets like your domain are stored.
Once you have a wallet, you can link it to your Unstoppable account and transfer your domains to it. That’s how you get full ownership and listing access.

Where can I get my own wallet?
We’ve created a separate step-by-step guide on how to transfer your domains once your wallet is ready.
But first, if you don’t have a wallet yet, we recommend you setup one on MetaMask. Start here:

Once your wallet is ready, link it to your Unstoppable account by following these steps:
- On the top-right corner, click on the profile icon for Account Menu > Account Settings.
- Here you can see all your linked wallets including the custodial Lite wallet assigned by Unstoppable.
- To add your MetaMask wallet, click on Add Wallet > Choose MetaMask and connect to your MetaMask account.
Once you've set up your self-custody wallet (like MetaMask), here’s how you can move your domains out of Unstoppable’s custodial wallet and into your own:
How to Transfer Your Tokenized Domain from Unstoppable’s Custodial Wallet to Your Own Wallet
1️⃣ Log into your Unstoppable account and Go to: My Domains
2️⃣ In the left sidebar, under Management, choose "Web3 Transfer Out"
Even though the page says "Web3 Transfer", it works for tokenized Web2 domains too.
3️⃣ Choose the wallet holding your domains: In the dropdown menu at the top, select the wallet (likely the Unstoppable Custodial Wallet) where your domains are currently stored.
4️⃣ Select the domains you want to transfer: You can select up to 50 domains at once.
5️⃣ Click "Transfer Domains" button on the top right
6️⃣ Enter your self-custody wallet address: This is the wallet address from MetaMask (or whichever wallet you use).
7️⃣ Confirm the transfer: Check the boxes and confirm. The blockchain will process the transfer in a few moments.
That’s it.
Once the transfer is complete, your domains will appear in your wallet. From there, you can connect your wallet to NameMaxi, list the domains for sale on NameMaxi and OpenSea, and start receiving offers.
NOTE: If you just created a wallet and haven't added funds, you will need a small amount of $POL to cover gas fees for your first listing.
